This is called a “Buddy System”.
Do you like to camp and hike? Do you love the outdoors? Are you afraid to get lost in the wildeness?
Well fear no more, I am going to tell you a few ways to stay alive if you get lost, and tell you how not to get lost in the wilderness. The easiest way to be safe while exploring the jungle is to ALWAYS have a partner with you. It is called the buddy system. If you always have somebody with you while your hiking and camping, your chances of being stranded are almost cut in half. Having a map of the area will also help you. Maps can show cities, streams, lakes, trails and roads, each leading you to safety. Before every trip you go on remember to tell someone at home or a friend that you are camping and tell them where you are camping or hiking and when your planning to be back. That way if you do get lost they know to send for help to find you. However, things can happen so this is how you stay safe if lost while hiking.
If you find yourself lost in the forest or jungle, or even a desert the first thing you do is S.T.O.P.
S-stop
T-think
O-observe
P-plan
By following these simple rules it will calm you down into a state of alertness and help you stay alive. The first thing you must do is find water. You can only live for 3 min without air, 3 days without water and 3 weeks without food. Water is most important. After finding water you need to make a shelter. With a shelter it provides protection against the environment, it gives you a psychological boost making you think your safe and provides a base camp for yourself. The next thing on the to-do-list is make a fire. This can cause a problem. You must find the driest leaves, pine needles and wood in the area. you will most like not have matches or a lighter. After making a fire and finding food, you need to plan your trek to safty. You must try and remember any stream or trails in the area. if you cant the best way to go is high ground. By going to a nearby hill or mountian you can see the surroundings and possible find a way out. If you do see a way out, you must determine which direction it is. Remember that the sun raises in the east and sets in the west. This will help you find north and south, that way you will always know which direction to follow. These are the best ways to help you survive if your lost in the wilderness.

I know there are a lot of campers, hikers, fishers and just regular people who are looking for a new knife. However, you seem to have problems on what brand, or how big, and if you want a fixed blade or a folding blade. Ka-bar has been making knifes for over 100 years supplying our military with personal fighting/utility knifes spanning from WWII through the Iraqi freedom war. These knifes are made with a 3 step heat treating process in order to withstand “ware and tear”. Ka-Bar makes a big range of knifes but their most famous is “The Legend” as shown in the picture above. This knife is the first choice of many military personnel deployed across seas right now. It is a very dependable knife that will last you many years. If your looking for more of a camping knife, one that will fold and take up less room, Ka-Bar has that too. They make folding knifes and skinning knifes for the hunters out there. So if your in need for a new knife, check out what Ka-Bar has to offer you.

Do you enjoy camping? Are you an outdoor kind of person? Well you came to the right place. I know there are alot of people out there who love to camp but seem to over pack and also under pack. Here I am going to tell you and explain what you need to pack for a camping trip as well as a backpacking trip. Let me first start off by telling you the very first thing you need to pack, your 10 essentials. The 10 essentials are critical items that you have to have with you in case of a emergency.
The items:
1) map of the area
2)compus
3)pocket knife or multi-use tool
4)first aid kit
5)extra clothing: a wind breaker extra pants, a sweatshirt and rain gear
6)flashlight
7)sun glasses
8)extra food/trail food
9)fire starter(water proof matches, or lighter)
10) water bottle
Beside the 10 essentials the next MAJOR item you need to pack is socks. Dirty socks can lead to blisters, and if a blister pops in dirty socks it can lead to a nasty infection. If you are not able to clean clothes on your trip, you must have a a clean pair for everyday your camping. Hiking pants, shorts, shirts, and underwear are straight foward, pack what you need. If your a very clean person you might pack more clean clothes than another person who doesn’t mind wearing dirty pants for a day. Depending on where your camping at, I would reccomend bringing a hat. You MUST have a very good pair of hiking boots. Cheap ones will fall apart on tough trails and you will be left with boots that hurt your feet. A sleeping bag is as important as your socks. You need to keep it clean, meaning bring clothes to just sleep in. With a sleeping bag comes a sleeping pad. If you do not own one, buy one! I must say you will get a much better sleep and it will take the pressure off your back more than sleeping on the hard ground. Trust me, I know by experience. They are worth the money trust me, I have hiked countless miles and camped weeks at a time, they work! You must also bring utensils for eating. You can get camping sets that include a plate, bowl, cup, fork, spoon and a knife. Taking care of those are important and make sure you keep them clean. Other than the gear, you need to bring with you tents, food, stoves, and cleaning supplies, this list will more than get you through a camping trip.

In One of the biggest counties in the country lies one of the most beautiful national forests you can find. The San Bernardino Mountains is the home to the tallest peak in all of Southern California, Mt. San Gorgonio. The peak stands 11,499 feet above sea level with a spectacular view of the nearby valleys, L.A. county and on a very clear day Catalina island. This mountain holds one of the toughest, spectactular, open-your-eyes, hike you can travel on. I say toughest because due to the low desert surroundings, San Gorgonio is one of the most topographically prominent peaks in the united states. Meaning that all the trails leading up the mountain have a minimum of a 3500ft elevation. In my opinion, the best way to get to the summit would be to start at Fish Creek. Fish creek is 10 miles off Highway 38 heading to Big Bear city. Fish Creek is nested 6 miles from the base of the massive mountain. As you start your hike, you find your self in the heart of the forest .You forget that only a mere 30 miles from civilization.
The trek from Fish Creek Saddle to Mine Shaft Flats is a mellow and a absolutly Gorgous hike. when you reach Mine Shaft Flats, you are on the base of the bread and butter of the San Bernadino Mountains. A little history about the mountain, on November 28, 1952 a a small C-47 airplane crashed on the eastern face of the mountain. The plane was route to March Air Force base from Offut Air Force Base in Nebraska. The Remains of the Plane still lie just a few hundred feet off the trail. The trail heading up the mountain is a treacherous and very tiring. from the Flats you have a 3800 ft vertical climb passing close to 2 miles. Once you reach the peak you will enjoy a magnificent view and a chance to place your name next to everybody who has and will climb Mt. San Gorgonio. From Fish Creek to the peak of the mountain and back is a little over 18 miles. If you decide to accomplish this hike i would recommend doing it in a weekend backpacking trip. Camp in fish creek on a Friday night, travel to mine shafts flats on Saturday and do a day hike to the summit that day then camp in Mine Shafts Flats that night then return to Fish Creek on Sunday would more than fill your weekend with the beauty that the mountain has to offer. Fall and spring would be the best times to accomplish the trek due to the drought and heat that southern California faces. This is the best hike i have ever been on, and HIGHLY recommend it to folks that are looking for a great hike and camping trip.

How many people sit on their couch watch TV and say to them selves, I need to lose weight?
The gym is not for everyone. It can be a really boring place if you do not have the determination to get up and go. However there is something you can do, Airsoft. Airsofting is much like paintball. You have a gun and ammunition and you shoot people in a serino game. The last team with the most members alive wins. This may not sound intriguing to you but listen to me for a minute, it’s not the game that you have to love, it’s the intense exercise that you recieve from it. It’s an activity that you can do to keep your mind thinking about getting shot instead of getting in shape. Unlike paintball, airsoft BB’s are much cheaper than paintballs. The problem with airsofting is that you must have a gun of some type to play. Most people that play in big recreation parks have only the best guns costing them anywhere from $300 to $1200, but you can buy a decent gun for less than that. There is a place in southern California called S.C.Village. it is a huge paintball/airsoftpark. There you can find all sorts of people that airsoft and have a blast. One group in particular is called ‘the Airsoft Outlawz.’ They are a team of just normal people that share the passion of airsofting.”Nothing can beat waking up in the morning and shoot people for fun,”say James the founder and leader of the Outlawz. He loves playing the sport and love the people he plays it with. So if you need more exercise and want to get up and do something fun, then try airsofting.
